"Career Planning and Development Services"
About this Program - The Work Services Program is funded by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). This program offers career planning and development services to assist persons with mental health issues in achieving their employment objectives. The program serves individuals by offering entitlement assessment, vocational interest inventories/career planning, job seeking skills instruction, job development, on-the-job support and follow-up. In this highly individualized program, each person receives services specifically tailored to meet his/her unique situation and set of needs.
Also available are independent living skills training, job performance evaluation, work adjustment information, referral services and individual counseling. Services are continued based upon the individual's need and expressed desire to work.
To insure that the dignity and respect of each individual is maintained and promoted throughout the community and that people have the opportunity to assume positive adult roles, staff seeks opportunities for consumer choice and empowerment. The program also seeks feedback from program participants regarding satisfaction with services.
Vocational staff employed with this program complete all of Marrakech's core training requirements include CPR, First Aid, and Behavior Management. In addition, staff attends external trainings that are applicable to their positions as they become available. The professionals that work in this program are experienced vocational staff with demonstrated success with meeting employment program outcomes. Marrakech's vocational staff is integrated into clinical teams at the Connecticut Mental Health Center in New Haven, the F.S. DuBois Center in Stamford and various other community provider agencies.
Eligibility - Individuals interested in services must meet the DMHAS eligibility requirements of mental illness and be involved in clinical services in the New Haven or Stamford areas.
